Last year, Walmart unveiled its monthly subscription, Walmart+, and with it came a series of perks such as free one-day and two-day shipping, grocery delivery, and discounts on fuel. Walmart+ members can potentially save up to $84 each year on fuel through the service at participating Walmart, Sam’s Club, Murphy USA, and Murphy Express locations throughout the United States.

Subscribers can use their Walmart app to select the “member prices on fuel” option while at a participating pump. From there, they can follow the instructions to receive their discount, which will either involve entering a code or scanning a QR barcode, depending on location. Currently, savings can only be applied directly at the gas pump with the Walmart app. Walmart breaks down the process through its fuel discounts FAQ here, and a video explaining the process can be found here

Depending on their location and mileage, Walmart+ members have the potential to save up to five cents per gallon. While some regions, such as Oregon, Washington, and New York seem to have fewer than ten locations statewide, southern states like Florida, Alabama, and Texas have 100+ participating locations, respectively.

Although savings can vary, the fuel discount can be a valuable option for those who live in more suburban or rural regions with many nearby Walmart, Murphy USA, Murphy Express, and Sam’s Club locations. You can learn more about what the overall Walmart+ subscription offers here.
