“The Father” is now available to buy through video-on-demand (VOD) streaming retailers for $20.

The movie follows an elderly man, Anthony (Anthony Hopkins), who is dealing with dementia. Golden Globe-winning actress Olivia Colman stars as Anthony’s daughter Anne. The film is based on Florian Zeller’s play of the same name, and marks Zeller’s feature-length directorial debut.

You can buy “The Father” through a variety of digital retailers following its two wins at the 2021 Academy Awards. The film’s six Oscar nominations included nods for best picture, best actor (Hopkins), best supporting actress (Colman), best adapted screenplay (Zeller and Christopher Hampton), best film editing, and best production design. Hopkins took home the award for best actor while Zeller and Hampton won the award for best adapted screenplay.

One of the top winners at the 2021 Academy Awards was “Nomadland.” If you haven’t seen the film yet, Hulu is here to help. “Nomadland” premiered in theaters and on Hulu simultaneously on February 19. The movie is also available to buy through video-on-demand services like Prime Video.

The film is based on the book “Nomadland: Surviving America in the Twenty-First Century.” The story centers on a woman, Fern (Frances McDormand), who loses her job due to the recession. As she searches for work on the road in her van, Fern hears stories from other nomads in the American West. The film features supporting actors who are nomads in real life, including Bob Wells, known for his YouTube channel CheapRVliving.

“Nomadland” is directed by Chloé Zhao, who won best director at the 2021 Academy Awards. Zhao’s win made her the first woman of color and second woman ever to win the Oscar for best directing. Her next film will be Marvel’s superhero movie “Eternals” starring Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, and Kumail Nanjiani.

Sacha Baron Cohen ridiculed Rudy Giuliani as a “comedy genius” on Sunday night, highlighting numerous political gaffes as comic masterpieces during his Golden Globes acceptance speech. 

Baron Cohen on Sunday won Best Comedy Motion Picture for his 2020 film “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm,” in which he pranked the lawyer and former New York City mayor.

In the movie, Giuliani was duped by the actress Maria Bakalova, who played the daughter of fictional Kazakh TV presenter Borat and invited the lawyer to her hotel room during a fake interview.

One point in the fake interview, Giuliani was filmed lying on his back on the hotel bed and putting his hand down his trousers. Giuliani has maintained that he was tucking in his shirt.

At the Golden Globes, Baron Cohen wasted no time in milking the scene for further laughs. Seeming like he was crediting Bakalova, he gave a hat tip to his “co-star,” whom he described as “a fresh new talent who came from nowhere, and turned out to be a comedy genius.”

“I’m talking, of course, about Rudy Giuliani,” he continued. “I mean, who could get more laughs out of one unzipping? Incredible.” (It is not clear from the footage whether Giuliani actually unzipped his trousers.)

Baron Cohen went on to praise Giuliani’s later “comedy films,” such as his press conference at the Four Seasons Total Landscaping parking lot after the 2020 election, his hair dye trickling down his face, and his farting at an election hearing. Baron Cohen called the moments “Hair Dye Another Day” and “A Very Public Fart.”

Turning more serious, Baron Cohen then credited Bakalova’s performance as a “revelation, sensation” before thanking other members of the production team. 

Baron Cohen also made a cutting jab at the the expense of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), describing the group as “all-white” in a throwaway line that added to the numerous uncomfortable moments of the night. 

The HFPA, which has 87 members, has been heavily criticized for its lack of diverse racial representation. According to the former president of the Golden Globes, the board has not had any Black members for nearly two decades.

The British actress Rosamund Pike also called out Bakalova and Giuliani in her Golden Globes acceptance speech, for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical for her role in “I Care A Lot.”

“In my movie, I had to swim up from a sinking car,” Pike said. “I think I still would rather do that than be in a room with Rudy Giuliani. So, Maria, I salute your brilliance and your bravery.”

Nominees for the Golden Globes are spread across several categories for film and TV. You can see a full list of nominees here.

Best Picture nominees in the drama category include several movies you can stream right now, like Netflix’s “Mank” and “The Trial of the Chicago 7,” as well as Hulu’s “Nomadland” and Focus Features’ “Promising Young Woman.”

Meanwhile, Disney’s “Hamilton” and Hulu’s “Palm Springs” are among the contenders for Best Picture in the musical or comedy category. Disney also has two movies up for Golden Globes in the animated film category, including “Soul” and “Onward.”

The late Chadwick Boseman is up for an award for his work in “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,” and actress Maria Bakalova is nominated for her performance in “Borat.” And, when it comes to TV,  HBO’s “Lovecraft Country” and Disney’s “The Mandalorian” are among the nominees in the drama category.

If you’re trying to make your way through all of the Golden Globe-nominated dramas before the awards show is broadcast on February 28, Hulu is here to help. “Nomadland,” which is up for Best Picture, premiered in theaters and on Hulu simultaneously on February 19.  

The film is based on the book “Nomadland: Surviving America in the Twenty-First Century.” The story centers on a woman, Fern (Frances McDormand), who loses her job due to the recession. As she searches for work on the road in her van, Fern hears stories from other nomads in the American West. The film features supporting actors who are actually nomads in real life, including Bob Wells, known for his YouTube channel CheapRVliving.

“Nomadland” is directed by Chloé Zhao, who is up for Best Director at the Golden Globes. Her next film will be Marvel’s highly anticipated superhero movie “Eternals” starring Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Brian Tyree Henry, and Salma Hayek. 

Reviews have been positive for “Nomadland” so far. The film has a “95% Certified Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and Insider critic Jacob Sarkisian gave the movie an “A-” grade in his full review.

How to watch ‘Nomadland’ on Hulu

“Nomadland” is now available to stream on Hulu. The movie premiered on February 19. You can get access to Hulu for $6 per month with its basic, ad-supported plan. 

It’s unclear how long the movie will remain on the streaming service, but the Hulu premiere gives viewers a chance to catch the Golden Globe-nominated movie at home before the show announces its winners on February 28.
